Youth Group Activities
The 2008 season will mark the 37th year that World Wide River Expeditions has provided opportunities for quality outdoor activities for Boy Scouts, young men, young women, and young adult groups. Our youth rafting trips expose young people to new experiences and broaden their understanding of the world around them!
Youth Trips with World Wide
Come enjoy Colorado River rafting with your youth group and experience the greatest youth activity that you have ever attended. Choose from our One-Day Raft Adventure or the popular Three-Day Super Group Activity (see below). These trips are conducted on the Fisher Towers section of the Colorado River and provide the perfect setting for an incredible youth group adventure.
Groups that have come with us in the past have described their trips as the most successful and meaningful trips they have ever participated in. This trip creates a setting that allows the youth leaders to focus on teaching and leadership goals and not the usual logistics associated with trips of this nature.
The success of the program is World Wide's commitment to a quality experience. This begins with the guides the company hires -- energetic, outgoing, spiritual men and women are who are able to relate to your goals as good role models.
One-Day Raft Adventure
Combined with a day or two of self guided tours in the Moab area, a day of rafting with us makes for a great experience. We can customize a trip for your youth group and help out by providing ideas for camp sites and assist in planning your activity.
For a youth group of 10 or more you'll receive a discounted rate of $39.00 (not including Utah State Sales tax if applicable or guide gratuity) for adults and $29.00 (not including tax or guide gratuity) for youth 17 & under. For those in your group that would like to take a more active part in the trip, we can provide a few two-person inflatable kayaks at no extra charge. There are more inflatable kayaks available during the first of the week.
Two-Day Group Activity
For groups who want an overnight activity but don't have much time, this two-day trip could be the answer for you. The meeting time is 9:30 am and the return is 3 pm the next day. The cost is $115 per person (not including Utah Sate Sales tax if applicable or guide gratuity).
Three-Day Super Group Activity
This three day trip on the Colorado river is our most popular youth trip and is priced at $130.00 for the Monday launch dates and $140.00 for the Thursday launch dates, (not including Utah State Sales tax if applicable or guide gratuity). The trip is a great option for Youth Conferences, Girls Camp, or Scout High Adventure. (With advanced notice we can focus on earning a few merit badges during the trip, call for details).
Where's the Trip?
Our warehouse in Moab, Utah is our meeting place; 9:30 a.m. is the time. A map will be sent with your trip information with the exact directions to our office on Riversands Road. That is where you may leave your vehicles in our fenced-in yard for the duration of your trip. Our buses will provide the transportation to the river put-in and also return you to your cars at the end of the trip.
The Trip: Plenty of fun!
Once in Moab, everything is taken care of; all meals and transportation are included in the price. Each person is responsible for his or her own sleeping bag, tent, and personal items, which will be loaded on a truck at the warehouse then will meet us at camp. Review the youth packing list for a complete list of suggested items for the trip.
Around 11:30 a.m., our buses arrive at the river put-in. After a thorough orientation on equipment and water safety, passengers push off from the shore to begin their 3-day adventure. With the exception of lunch items, no food, camping equipment or personal gear is taken on the boats. All these items are trucked to the camping areas alongside the river. At noon, the nearest sandbar or sandy beach becomes the setting for our smorgasbord lunch, complete with breads, lunch meats, cheese, fruits, drinks and desserts.
Camp for the first night is Hittle Bottom, a turn-of-the-century homestead. Dinner this night is deluxe quarter-pounder cheeseburgers with all the trimmings. The second day is a fun filled day of water fighting, swimming, relaxing, and running the rapids. Camp and a tasty dinner this night will be at the Big Bend Campground. On the 3rd day, following a delicious breakfast, camp is cleaned up and the rafts again put on the river. This day is spent floating the last few miles through the canyons into Moab, arriving around lunchtime.
FOOD, FOOD, FOOD!
Meals begin with lunch the first day and end with lunch the last day. The food is scrumptious! You'll enjoy blueberry pancakes with sausages, fresh fruits including cantaloupes, oranges, and peaches. Lunches are smorgasbord style. You fix as much as you want; if you go hungry, it's your own fault!
When can our group go?
Trips depart every Monday and Thursday. The popular weekends in June and July are generally a sell out. Up to four groups may launch on each departure date. We are prepared to handle large groups up to 150 for youth conferences, but groups of this size must be booked well in advance.
If your group is interested in participating we encourage you to make reservations early. After January space starts to fill up fast! If you have any questions or if we can help out in anyway, give us a call at (800) 231-2769 or e-mail us at info@worldwideriver.com
To acquaint yourself, leaders, parents, and youth with the features of this river trip, we'd like to send you a FREE video that will give your group an introduction to river rafting on this section of the Colorado River.
