"What a great idea: Earn merit badges during a whitewater raft trip!"
"One-Day Scout Adventure"
Whitewater Merit Badge Program
Combined with a day of self-guided mountain biking or hiking in the Moab area, a day of rafting with us makes for a great experience for your scout group. Our raft guides will take a waterproof list of the badge requirements down the river and cover each topic during the hours on the river.
For a group of 10 or more the cost is $45.00 for adults and $35.00 for youth 17 and under (Rates do not include Guide Gratuity or 3% Access Fee). The group as a whole can earn one of the following merit badges: Whitewater or Rowing. Boats used on this trip are 10 man paddle boats with paddle assist frames. These trips are conducted on the Fisher Towers section of the Colorado River and run Monday-Wednesday all summer. Scout groups can raft with us on the weekends, but unfortunately our Merit Badge program is not available Thursday, Friday, or Saturday.
Four-Day Scout Adventure
This trip was added a few years ago in response to several scout groups that have inquired about the possibility of having a type of scout camp experience while on the river. In response to this we have come up with the following trip in which World Wide will be able to facilitate your group in achieving requirements for several merit badges.
The trip follows the same area as the Super Group Activity on the Fisher Towers section of the Colorado River, but includes an extra day off the river to work on merit badge requirements. This is a river trip with an element of scouting built into it, it is not an official Scout Camp. The guides on the trips are registered as merit badge counselors for the following merit badges, but can assist your counselors in other areas:
A few of these merit badges can be completed by everyone during the trip. However, most of the merit badges will require some pre- or post-trip work to complete, (eg. The camping badge requires 20 nights camping out). For this reason, we need to hear from you ASAP in regards to what your goals for the group will be. We will then mark exactly which requirements that can not be completed on the river and send that information back to you. With a coordinated effort on pre-trip requirements, groups have been able to complete at least 3-5 merit badges during the trip.
Trip Cost and Group Size:
The cost of the trip is $ 175.00 per person.
(Rates do not include Guide Gratuity or 3% Access Fee)
Trips meet on Tuesday at 9:30 am and are finished in camp by 11 am on Friday of each week.
In order to accomplish the goals of your group we suggest making your reservations early. This will allow time to work out the details. The "Four Day Scout Adventure" is a great trip and the success of this trip depends on early planning between your group and ours. We are excited about the trip and look forward to working with your group. Give us a call or e-mail so that we can begin planning your trip.
